Bali bucket list

I’ve put together a foodie style bucket list of all my favourite spots to visit in Bali, Indonesia. All Insta worthy (of course) but more importantly all serving vibrant vegan cuisine!

While writing this I got side tracked and started looking at flight deals to head back to Bali (preferably ASAP) but for now I will just reminisce on the these beaut Bali eats.

SEMINYAK AND CANGGU

Kynd Community

This colourful spot in the heart of Seminyak is most well known for it’s pink palm photo wall and creative acai bowls. The creativity and attention to detail doesn’t stop there, every dish we tried was presented perfectly and tasted even better than it looked. 100% Plant based this might just be Vegan heaven.

Make sure you keep an eye out… Kynd now have a range of epic cook books which is available for purchase on site, as well as In the soul-shine tees so you are able to stock up on beaut vegan tees!

UPDATE: The creators of Kynd Community now also run a new spot in Canggu called ‘Give cafe’ with all profit going to local charities. Based on their belief ‘When you have more than you need, build a longer table not a higher fence’ Give Cafe is an 100% plant based eatery with a fully Indonesian inspired menu. It looks amazing and I can’t wait to check it out for myself upon my return!

Neon Palms

Hidden gem. Situated above a cool women’s clothing boutique called Bali Boat Shed. Neon Palms tacos are the best thing I’ve tasted in my life (OK I always say that, but it’s up there). They have great cocktail specials & like most places in Bali use plastic free straws – YAY. Also, make sure you head to the bathroom, haha! Seriously, it’s on a whole another level of style.

Coffee Cartel

I would come back here just to photograph the tiles. Is that weird?! The vibe of this place is 10/10 and their menu caters for omnivores as well so can be good to take your friends & fam that haven’t been converted yet… plus their drinks are so cute & colourful it’s a win win. Checkout their photo wall on the side of the property – sadly we missed this on our visit however have spotted in on Instagram since!

Café Organic

Situated in Seminyak, Canggu & a new location in Umalas, there is no excuse to miss this classic spot. With a Vegetarian menu which is clearly labelled for Vegans, they also do a delicious organic take on Nutella called Chocotella that you can purchase to take home. Highly recommended!

 Peloton Super shop, Canggu

If you’re not staying in Canggu and wonder if you should make the trek (or in Bali’s case, the scooter ride), don’t question it, Peloton is worth travelling for.

This fully plant based restaurant is highly regarded in the Vegan community for a reason. The food creations they come up with are mouth watering and as they are open breakfast, lunch & dinner you never have to miss out!

UBUD

The Elephant

We visited the Elephant for dinner after a stroll on the nearby Camphan Ridge walk and it exceeded our expectations. A fully vegetarian restaurant, the chefs here are world class in my opinion. Flavors of the coconut pineapple noodle soup I ordered were unreal. I plan on eating here every night on my return to Ubud!

Pemulan Bali Farm Cooking School

OK so this recommendation is a cooking school, so naturally you have to cook the food yourself. However even if cooking isn’t your strong point I urge you to try it out! Located on a farm outside of Ubud, morning or afternoon classes available with transfers included. You freshly pick the produce from their on sight garden and learn about the spices from enthusiastic hosts before starting your three course meal prep. Pemulan offers a menu that is easily adaptable for Vegans and Vegetarians alike.

The dishes we had here were out of this world, handmade peanut sauce for Gado Gado and the best tempeh I have ever tasted, all with a side of pride as it’s all cooked by you!

 ULUWATU

Nalu Bowls

A pre surf smoothie bowl might just be a Bali travellers tradition. Nalu bowls is cute & fresh, with various vegan options available. It’s the place to come for breakfast, try the ‘Uluwatu’ without honey if you can’t make up your mind! (Pictured at the top).

Omburger Superfood

After a hard morning of sun baking & scooting around the beautiful beaches we visited Om-burger. Above a mini mart and surf store, it isn’t the usual bali epic cafe vibe however it did not disappoint. I mean, just look at this picture. Need I say more?

HOT TIP: for accommodation in Uluwatu, try out Gravity Bed & Breakfast. A stunning eco resort with one of the nicest Tempeh salads ever created.

Let me know your favourite cafes & vegan spots in Bali and I’ll add it to the long list of reasons to head back!

Enjoy, Tess Eden x
